Talking with a contact of mine — a crafter, who was attending a class — online– to learn a new style of her craft.
The instructor had offered a 3-part class. Night one, was open and free. Live in her Facebook group. 254 people attended.
The second and third nights were paid — $10 or part of her membership — $20 per month or $200 per year. On the second night there were 154 people attending and any other registrants can watch the replay. So…. let’s assume everyone bought the course — $10 x 154 people = $1540. Not a bad night. But let’s assume that some of the attendees are members — @ $200 per year. Let’s say 54. That’s $10,800 per year. But her total membership is 1800 members. Now assuming everyone has done the cheaper option of $200 per year. That comes in at: $360,000 for the year!!
Hmmm. How can you add a membership to your mix.
This person is a crafter!! She is teaching a class as part (PART) of her business. She also has her craft — which she sells.
No, this did not happen overnight. I can guarantee that! She built connections, a following and invited people to join her free class. And then, she invited them to her paid class…. and I am sure that then, she invited them to her membership so that they can access her library of classes.
