Ashley is passionate about helping others find happiness and enjoyment in life, and this passion fueled her latest business venture, co-founding Peak Mind: The Center for Psychological Strength (www.peakmindpsychology.com), to provide cutting edge information and tools from the fields of psychology and design thinking to everyone who wants to transform their lives.
Dr. Ashley Smith earned her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. She has specialized in the treatment of anxiety and obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders, initially as a staff psychologist at Omaha Children’s Hospital then at the Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment. She made the leap into the entrepreneurial world in 2017 when she started a private practice.
As a licensed psychologist, she helps people learn to overcome anxiety using an evidence-based treatment called cognitive behavioral therapy, informed by applied neuroscience. In addition to clinical work, she has several scholarly publications and regularly presents workshops and trainings on local and national levels. Ashley also has a rare degenerative retinal disease.
As part of her personal journey to thrive despite vision loss, she delved into the science of happiness and positive psychology, eventually combining her professional expertise and personal experiences in the blog A Blind Quest for Happiness (www.ablindquest.com).
